Highlights

Version 5.0 is a major release that redesigns the TermLynx experience from the ground up. The application has been rebuilt with a modern architecture, a cleaner interface, and significantly improved algorithms. Below is a summary of what's new and what has changed.

What's New

Unified Search

The error tab has been removed from the explorer. Everything is now accessed through the new unified search — your single entry point into the document. You can search by error category, individual error, defined term, or section scope (agreements, annexes, and more). Whatever you're looking for, start here.

Search history is preserved within the session, making it easy to revisit previous queries.

Smart Cursor Selection

Users can now search based on their cursor position in Word:

Click or highlight content in your Word document
Click on the search bar in TermLynx
If the search bar is empty, it is automatically populated based on the cursor location in Word

There is no need to manually type — simply place your cursor on a term and open the search to get instant results.

Redesigned User Interface

The entire user interface has been redesigned to be more efficient, pleasant, minimalistic, and easy to use. Key improvements include:

Modal Search maximizing search result details for easier selection
Cleaner layout with less visual noise and easier navigation
Tree explorer with sticky nodes, smooth open/close animations, and keyboard navigation
Split pane with a resizable explorer and preview layout
Location bar showing your current position within the document
Context menus for quick access to actions on paragraphs and links
Keyboard shortcuts for power users, with configurable shortcut contexts
Multiple jump-back locations — navigate back to several previous positions, not just the last one

Improved Algorithms

The algorithm pipeline for error detection and named entity recognition has been completely redesigned. Key improvements include:

Better precision at the tokenization level through a rewritten capitalized segment analysis engine
More accurate materiality scores for error severity, helping users focus on what matters most
Improved term detection with expanded handling of edge cases (abbreviations, ampersands, accented characters, and more)
Faster processing through performance optimizations and caching

Multiple Resolution Strategies

When resolving an error, users can now choose from multiple possible resolution strategies instead of being given a single fix. Available strategies include:

Create Definition — add a new definition for the term
Create Index Definition — add the term to the index
Lowercase — convert the term to lowercase
Capitalize — capitalize the term
Cross-Reference Dialog — resolve via cross-reference lookup
Condense Spaces — remove extra spacing

This gives users more control over how they want to handle each issue.

Confidential Information Scrubbing

A new scrubbing feature allows users to instantly remove all confidential information (PII) from their agreements, making it easy to share or review documents without exposing sensitive data.

Warning: LLM Feature Required

Scrubbing is only available for clients with the large language model (LLM) feature activated. This feature is disabled by default and must be explicitly turned on per client. See the optional LLM endpoint requirement for endpoint and access token requirements. Contact your TermLynx representative to enable it.

Infrastructure Changes

These changes are relevant to IT administrators managing TermLynx deployments.

Runtime Upgrade

TermLynx v5.0 runs on .NET 10 (upgraded from .NET 8). No action is required from IT — the runtime is bundled with the deployment.

Authentication

TermLynx v5.0 uses SuperTokens for authentication with cookie-based sessions. CSRF protection is enforced on all requests.

Removed Features

The following legacy features have been removed in v5.0:

Legacy error tab — replaced by unified search
Preview tab — preview is now modal; you must close it to return to results
Error sorting and filtering controls — replaced by searching for errors through unified search
Dark mode — removed
Legacy web view — the entire frontend has been rewritten; the previous WebAddin is no longer supported
IE11 and EdgeHTML support — TermLynx no longer supports either engine. Word on Windows requires Microsoft Edge WebView2; Word on Mac uses Safari's WKWebView.

Requirements

WebView2 is required for Word on Windows, not merely recommended. It is installed with supported versions of Office by default. Older installations that use IE11 or EdgeHTML must be updated or upgraded before using TermLynx. Word on Mac uses Safari's WKWebView, and Word on the web and TermLynx Viewer require a current browser. See the current requirements and WebView2 guidance.
